At Tegemeza, we believe that education is one of the most powerful tools for breaking the cycle of poverty and ensuring a brighter future. That’s why we are thrilled to share the success of our latest sponsorship program in Meru County, Kenya, where we have provided 150 girls with the opportunity to attend boarding school, removing them from unsafe environments at home and giving them a chance to thrive.
This initiative, undertaken in partnership with Senator Kathuri and New Philanthropy, received an overwhelming response, with over 700 girls applying for sponsorship. Through a careful selection process, we identified those with the greatest need—girls who faced extreme hardships and were at risk of missing out on their education due to unsafe living conditions. Tegemeza knows how to help them holistically ensuring that their basic needs are met as well as their educational needs.
Now, thanks to this program, these 150 girls have access to quality education, a safe learning environment, and the support they need to reach their full potential. Education is more than just learning; it’s a pathway to empowerment, independence, and a better future for these young girls and their communities. We’re removing them from abuse in the home, unsafe environments, uneducated parents, single mothers - we’re breaking generational cycles. The impact of this endeavour is rippling through the community and impacting an entire generation.
Even orphaned children who have never had anyone looking out for them. We love on them, we give them hope, we want them to know that we’re supporting them and rooting for them even from all the the way in Canada across the oceans.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Senator Kathuri and all our supporters who made this program possible. Together, we are changing lives and creating a future where every girl has the opportunity to succeed.
Stay tuned for updates as we continue to support these students on their journey and work towards expanding this initiative to reach even more girls in need.
